"Qatar Rail’s Doha Metro project has received the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) International Award 2020, which recognises outstanding examples of highways and transportation infrastructure or services from outside the UK and Ireland.

Doha Metro won the award after being shortlisted alongside mega projects in the US, Africa, Asia the Balkans, Qatar Rail said in a statement on Saturday.

The established and long-running CIHT Awards opened their doors to international projects for the first time last year, making Doha Metro the first project in the region to win this prestigious award, the statement noted."

Galfar Al Misnad is proud to be associated with the prestigious Doha Metro Project as JV partner on Red Line North, the first underground Metro Rail Project in Qatar covering a distance of 13 Kms at a depth of 26 M, between Msheireb (Interchange Station) and Qatar University, with Twin Boring (7.60 M dia.) where in 1st TBM was witnessed by the Qatari People.
The project was completed successfully despite many challenges, in particular Dewatering since the line ran adjacent to the sea and below the Residential Buildings & Office Complexes of West Bay; and below the Artificial Hill at KATARA.
This was the Company’s first JV job with International Companies (M/s. Salini Impregilo S.p.A., Italy and M/s. S.K. Engineering & Construction Company, Korea). https://www.qr.com.qa/
