Planning
Any organization that wishes to survive, expand and improve business performance in today’s challenging environment, must have in place, a strategic plan or set up of direction. Galfar Planning department does the essential setting up of direction for the organization and guiding to follow that direction continually.
The department functions as central planning which extends the support from the Head office through the divisions within the organization, to the Project Sites with planning and cost control activities and by rendering appropriate training to the personnel.
Through central planning, we promote corporate mission, set goals for desired results and effectively allocate resources to sustain business growth and respond to changes faster. The resources like Manpower, Machinery, Material, Money and Technology required to implement strategies are depicted in the form of Business Plans, Resource Rolling Plans, Project Budgets, Capex Plans etc. Utilizing various monitoring and control measures we ensure that the set objectives are met.
In order to execute the Projects efficiently as an Engineering and Contracting company, we do Project planning with specific, measurable, acceptable, realistic, and time framed objectives. The competent Planners go through a process where they are aligned, moved along and carefully coordinated, to achieve goals set. Enhancing competencies and effectiveness in Planning and to strategize action plans for achieving company’s objectives, our team is efficiently equipped with the latest technologies like Primavera 6.0 and SAP PS Module.
Finance
Accounting, Finance & Treasury operations of the Company are managed by the Finance & Treasury Department. The department formulates appropriate Accounting Policies based on the International Financial Reporting Standards and various Internal Controls for better financial discipline. Receivable, payable, payroll, treasury, working capital management, insurance, periodical MIS reports etc are taken care by Finance & Treasury Department. Headed by the Senior Manager (F&T), the Department houses 10 other employees including 3 Chartered Accountants. The Department functions in a SAP-ERP environment. We bank with 10 leading Banks in Qatar, including the International Bank of Qatar, Doha bank, Commercial Bank, HSBC & Mashreq Bank.
QHSE

We are one of the very few EPC Contracting companies having the credit of achieving the Integrated Management System (IMS) certification covering ISO 9001: 2008 for Quality Management Standard, ISO 14001:2004 Environment Management Standard and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Standard.
Galfar is certified to IMS since the year 2005 by the certification body M/s TUV Middle East and again recertified to IMS during the beginning of 2009.
Galfar QHSE department, through a committed team of QHSE personnel, monitors the implementation of Company QHSE Policy and documented procedures while complying with Customer requirements, Legal requirements, National & international standards, in all of their business processes throughout the organization.
The QHSE department is fully equipped with a team of qualified, trained and experienced QHSE personnel, strong audit team, multilevel documented procedures, collection of Codes and Standards and, supported by SAP Document Management System.
Purchase
Purchasing department is operating Centrally at Head Office in Doha, Qatar supporting various business operations of Civil, Roads & Bridges, Electro-Mechanical, Instrumentation EPIC projects and also catering to internal material requirements of Plant comprising of Heavy construction Equipments & Vehicles & Asphalt plant, Batching plant, Curbstone plant, IT, Administration, Central Stores etc.
Purchase department’s prime functional objective is to co-ordinate planning, source, purchase, transport, control Materials & other operational related resources in optimum manner so as to provide a predetermined Quality service to our customers at minimum cost.

Selection & Evaluation of Vendors and Subcontractors
In selecting vendors, Galfar AI Misnad considers a variety of factors including the product quality and reliability, price, delivery reliability, after-sale service, compatibility with existing facilities, technological capability, financial stability, safety and commitment. Final decision is made fairly and impartially based on over all cost effectiveness.
Presently in our vendor data base there are about 1785 (as on 31.12.2009) vendors registered for supplies and services of various nature. Our Registered Vendor’s performance is periodically reviewed and these vendors are moved to Approved Vendors List as per criteria set by our Quality system norms.
Our customers preferred vendor is also one of the qualifying criteria for vendor registration / approval. Our database is continuously and thoroughly monitored by our quality and operations to ensure continuous improvement and to provide full satisfaction to our ultimate customers.

Plant and Equipments
Galfar Al Misnad has increased their Plant & Equipments capacity by eight folds, from mere 160 Nos. in the year 2003, to 1200 Nos. in the year 2010, and is one of the youngest fleet in the country - all the Plants & Equipments are less than 3½ years old; and more than 45% of our equipments are less than one year old.
Our current fleet includes, Heavy Duty Cranes (ranging from 20 tons to 80 tons capacity), Mobile Concrete Pumps, Side Booms, Heavy Duty Dozers, Excavators (ranging from 20 Tons to 70 Tons capacity), Wheel Loaders with Bucket capacity, ranging from 3.5 CuM to 5.2 CuM, Rigging Machine, Motor Graders and Vibratory Rollers. Our current fleet is from reputed brands viz. Hino, Renault, Caterpillar, Dynapac, Komatsu, Grove, etc.
We also have the State-of-Art facility Asphalt Plant at Mesaieed. All the Plants & Equipments are well maintained by an experienced and professional team of Equipment Engineers and Mechanics.
There is a full fledged Central Workshop, in addition to three Field Workshops, to supplement the maintenance facility to our Plants & Equipments across the country. This division ensures a minimum 85% to 90% availability of equipments at all times; and is fully geared-up to cater the Operation Department’s requirements of Plant & Equipments.
IT
We strongly believe that information technology is the foundation for decision making in any business and have implemented an enterprise architecture accordingly. We are glad to inform that “Galfar Al Misnad” is the first construction company in Qatar to have implemented SAP as a strategic ERP solution.The fact that IT can transform businesses in radically progressive and more effective ways is undisputed. At Galfar, we don’t consider any project that IT does as IT Projects – they are owned and driven by business owners which have ensured enormous success in establishing the IT framework as a true business enabler.
